The E Pluribus Unum Design
E Pluribus Unum, Latin for “out of many, one,” was proposed for the national arms in 1776 and adopted on the Great Seal in 1782. Our design draws the bald eagle large, with engraved feathering, holding a ribbon inscribed with the motto under an arc of thirteen stars. It works as well on a flag or a framed print as on a tee or a throw pillow.
